About this scholarship 

This scholarship program is a key component of the broader ASEAN-UK SAGE Program, demonstrating a shared commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment across the ASEAN region and Timor-Leste. This scholarship is One-year, fully funded Master's degree program at either the University of Warwick or Imperial College London.

Eligibility 

  • Be or identify as a woman 
  • Be a passport holder and permanent resident of ASEAN Member States and Timor-Leste. 
  • Be available to commence your studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September/October 2024 
  • Have completed your degree or have all components of your degree that at the time of submitting the application for the scholarship. 
  • Demonstrate case for financial support/socio-economic need. 
  • Not be in receipt of financial support of funding towards your study program in the UK from any other source and not be able to privately fund your UK studies. 
  • Declare any periods of study undertaken outside of your home country and explain how this was funded. 
  • Have not previously studied at degree level or higher in the UK or lived recently in the UK. Distance learning at a UK university or study at a UK branch campus in another country will be considered as studying in the UK. 
  • Meet the English Language requirements of the course to which you have applied to study. 
  • Be motivated and academically able to follow and benefit from a UK postgraduate taught course. 
  • Be active in the field with work experience or with a proven interest in the proposed subject area. 
  • Be willing to demonstrate future contribution to capacity building and socioeconomic advancement of your home country through the benefits achieved after graduating from UK higher education. 
  • Agree to return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your scholarship has ended. 
  • Agree to maintain contact with the University of Warwick, British Council and ASEAN-UK SAGE (Supporting the Advancement of Girls’ Education) and act as an ambassador for the UK. You are required to engage with activities as part of an ASEAN – UK SAGE: Women in STEM alumna during and after your studies. 
  • Demonstrate a plan and a passion to engage other women and girls in STEM from your home country. 
  • Agree to your personal data being shared with the British Council and ASEAN - UK SAGE members for the purposes of assessment and promotional activity, as a condition of applying for the scholarship. 

* ASEAN comprises Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Laos PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Timor - Leste and Vietnam

Scholarship Benefit 

  • Full tuition fees for an eligible one-year Master's degree program at either the University of Warwick or Imperial College London 
  • A monthly stipend to support with living expenses for up to 12 months 
  • Return flights to the UK in economy class from the awardee’s home country 
  • Transfers between the UK airport and campus 
  • An excess baggage allowances 
  • An IELTS test 
  • Immigration costs and National Health Service surcharge

The deadline to apply for the scholarship is 11.59pm (UK local time) on Friday, 5th April 2024.
