About the program

The Visiting Fellowship Scheme provides an opportunity for statelessness researchers, practitioners, and educators to engage with the work of the Peter McMullin Centre on Statelessness and to strengthen international collaborations. Visiting Fellows are provided with a workspace, and library and computer access. As part of their Fellowship, Visiting Fellows are expected to fully participate in the life and work of the Centre during their stay, including events and workshops.

Eligibility criteria

  • Academics: post‑doctoral researchers to tenured faculty with research on statelessness
  • Non‑academic professionals: eligible if proposing an applied research project relevant to the Centre’s mission
  • Applicants with lived experience of statelessness are strongly encouraged

Benefits

For selected individual:

  • Up to AUD 6,000 to cover return airfare and accommodation in Melbourne 
  • Workspace, library access, computer facilities at Melbourne Law School
  • Invitation to participate fully in Centre’s life: events, workshops, and seminars; deliver a public or faculty seminar; and contribute to the Centre’s blog

Required documents

  • Curriculum vitae and list of publications
  • Research plan (max 1,000 words) 
  • Proposed visit dates (must fall between July–November 2026)
  • Budget requested (up to AUD 6,000) with breakdown of travel and accommodation costs
  • One letter of reference (or employer/organizational support for non‑academics)
