About Scholarship

Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST) is a young and ambitious who leads science and technology and contributes to the world for the better. Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology are looking for masters and Ph.D. students to join our transportation labs in Spring 2024. The position will be fully funded with tuition waiver and competitive stipend. Selected candidates will work in the general area of Smart Future Transportation Systems. Students with backgrounds in transportation engineering, civil engineering, economics, mathematics, computer, science, electrical, engineering, control, automotive engineering, human factors, ergonomics, policy, etc., are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, Applicant must:

• Hold or expect to hold a Bachelor’s degree for Master or Master-Ph.D. Integrated application or Master’s degree for a Doctoral program application by February, 2024
• Hold citizenship outside Korea
• Provide at least one of the following English proficiency tests (EPT) scores:
  - TOEFL IBT (Min. 83)
  - IELTS (Min. 6.5 band)
  - TOEIC (Min. 720)
  - TEPS (Min. 326)

• Find an Academic Advisor at KAIST
  1. Masters program applicants are asked to find and indicate the names of up to three faculty members in the department you will apply to whose research interests overlap yours and write their names in Faculty section in your online application
  2. Doctorate program applicants-including applicants for M.S.-Ph.D. integrated program- are asked to find one faculty member you want to obtain advice form in the department you will apply to and indicate the name in your application.

Scholarship Benefits

This scholarship is fully funded scholarship with tuition waiver and competitive stipend.

• Stipend (monthly financial support):
  1. Around KRW 1,400,000 for M.S. students
  2. Around KRW 1,800,000 for Ph.D. students
• Living expenses
  1. Living cost in Daejeon, Korea is very low compared to Europe or Australia
  2. Quality Dormitory: 94,000-280,000 KRW (per month)

KAIST dorm fees are generously low compared to other universities in Korea. Dorm fees will depend on whether you are assigned to a two-three-person room or a single room. All dorm rooms are equipped with desks, chairs, closets, and beds.

1. Food: 3,000-7,000 KRW (per meal)
2. Medical aid fee: 30,000 KRW (per semester)

You can get a medical fee deduction even if you treat it outside hospitals

The online application is open from August 24, (10 A.M) to September 14, 2023. (5 P.M)

The application material submission deadline is on September 25, 2023. (6 P.M)

Applicant can also print out your online application and address sticker through KAIST system, organize and review your application materials with online application printouts and post your application materials to KAIST office.
