About this scholarship
The KOICA Scholarship Program (SP) in designed to train key leader in partner countries to countries to the socio-economic development of their home countries. KOICA is offering 20 master’s degree and 5 doctoral programs. This announcement is for 15 programs only. Application guideline for 10 more courses will be provided during March.
Qualifications
Prospective applications must meet the following conditions
1. National
- The list of designated countries is subject to annual changes based on the policies of the Korean government (KOICA).
- All applicants must be citizens of the designated countries listed below. These countries are selected by the Korean government (KOICA) from the OECD DAC List of ODA Recipients.
2. Employee Status and Government Nomination
- All application must be government officials and receive official nomination from their respective government for the KOICA Scholarship.
3. AGE
- (Preferably) Under the age of 40
4. Health
- All application must be in good health, both mentally and physically, to study in Korea for the full duration of the program.
- Application with disabilities, but in good mental and physical health, are eligible to apply.
- Application with severe illness are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply.
5. Minimum Level of education and Field experience
- (For master) Be a government employee. With a minimum of 2 year of experience in the field of study.
- (For PhD) Be a good government employee. With a minimum of 3 year of experience in the field of study after graduation from KOICA master’s degree program.
- Application must have obtained the required degree (minimum level of education as indicated above)
- Some program may have specific by each university.
6. English Proficiency
- Applicants must have a strong command of English, both in speaking and writing.
- Proficiency in English is required to attend classes conducted.
7. University eligible
- Applicants must meet the criteria set by the university they are applying to and must submit all the required documents as listed in the Program Information provided by the university.
- It is essential for all applicants to carefully read and understand the application guidelines and Program Information in its entirety.

- Insurance: KRW 79,210 Per month
- Extracurricular Activities
Required Document
All documents should be sent to the regional KOICA or the relevant government office
- KOICA Document
- KOICA application form
- Recommendation letter from applicant’s governments
- A scanned copy of an applicant’s valid passport
- KOICA documents should be submitted to regional KOICA office or Korean embassy in your country.
- University documents
- University Application form with required document for the university
- Refer to Program Information on KOICA CIAT Website
- An original copy should be sent to the reginal KOICA office or the relevant government office with the sealed envelope for your privacy protection till the end of the local medical checkup. (After the medical checkup, an original copy should be handed in to the university directly by the application)
- KOICA document and University document should be sealed separately in a different envelope.
Important Note
- Use envelope and write the information you are applying for in English on each envelope.
- Use the specific DHL service during this process, and KOICA provides support for the associated costs.
- The instruction for using DHL is detailed in the PI.
